The salary for any job depends on the demand and availability of  a particular skill. If many years of  training are required to acquire a particular skill, it is more likely to be highly valued and compensation will be higher. It also related to the cost of  living in the area, salaries in large cities are usually much higher than those in smaller towns for similar jobs.
